No Apple TV for us

Scott has been considering selling his Xbox 360 so he can buy an Apple TV. He is such a gadget guy. He wants to streamline our household and put everything in digital format. The other day he even suggested that we scan all my books so the bookshelf looks less cluttered! Can you believe that? It made me laugh. Scanning all the books... he he he...
Anyway, he wants to make a server with a RAID1 configuration, a place where we can both store our music, photos and such and then we can both have easy access to all of it. He also wants to digitize our DVD collection. And he wanted an Apple TV to display all this.
Then we learned that the Apple TV does not support 5.1 surround sound, only 2 channels. We're currently set up for 7.1, but hardly find it used by movies yet. Anyway, we'll mark that device off our list for now. Plus, if we sold the Xbox all of our nephews would be devastated.

Sounds a bit like my husband! He wants to build a book scanner with lego!
Great Susan, thanks. Now Scott is going to want to build one too :-) That is really funny though.
JP built a file server shortly after the wedding... It's the most wonderful thing ever. We have music, photos, podcasts, etc, and he also hosts a website on it. Soon he'll have to put a bigger harddrive in it cause 20 or 30 gigs (forget which one it is) isn't enough to hold all the music! It's so nice to have though!
