Happy Birthday, Scott!
Yesterday was Scott's birthday! We had a great day just going around doing whatever he wanted to do, and we just enjoyed being together. This is the first year in a long time he hasn't had to travel for work on his birthday.
We were hoping to start off our day by sleeping in. That didn't happen. I awoke at 5:30, still stuck on my new schedule, and his internal clock woke him up at 7:30. We fought it for a while before getting out of bed about 9:00... on a Saturday!
We headed to Denny's for birthday breakfast, and ran a few errands, one of which was to pick up his birthday present from his mom. She got him an AppleTV. He did find out that it will support surround sound, so it quickly went back on his wish list. Now of course, after buying it we had to go home and try it out. He had previously run the ethernet cable from the bedroom through the A/C duct for the Xbox, so it only took about 15 minutes to set up and start synchronizing. I got him a new router and an ethernet switch. We don't have any of our movies encoded yet, but I will admit, the Apple TV is pretty neat. The first thing we watched was the slideshow from our wedding, and we both cried. For some reason it always brings us to tears. Tears of joy, that is :-)
Next Scott wanted to go browsing at Fry's and MicroCenter. Now he is pricing an HDMI switcher. We found a really affordable one that even has the style of the AppleTV, but it has no audio solution. Scott is out of optical ports on his receiver, and it also doesn't have any HDMI ports. For now we are stealing audio from the the DVD player, but I have a feeling an HDMI switcher with an optical port will appear on his Christmas wish list.
We capped off the day with a trip to the Texas State Fair! Our class leaders at church gave a free pass for us all to share. It gave us free parking and admission! Our first stop was the auto show. We sat in a lot of cars, mostly those that catch our eye as we drive around town. It was fun. Then we enjoyed corny dogs and sodas and rode a few rides. It was lot of fun walking around and just being a part of the yearly tradition.
It was a great day together and great to celebrate Scott.

Happy late birthday Scott. I haven't read you blog in a really long time, its good to finally catch up.
